As a follow up of the PIARC Working Group activities till 2023, a new working group program was prepared for the cycle 2024 – 2027. The intent of this further effort is to analyze the fundamental barriers that hinder the implementation of the safe system concept in LMICs. Godthelp will continue his membership of the EG. Through literature analysis, surveys and illustrative case studies we will illustrate the success and failure factors. Based on this the WG will present the fundamentals necessary to provide a basic understanding of practice and how advancing within the safe system can occur.
The WG will also identify and make ready parts of the final report to the PIARC Road Safety Manual in a form suitable for the online document. At the end of the full report the WG will consider the development of guidelines for LMICs as an additional task. The scope may be adjusted based on full consideration by the TC given progress on delivery of other WG outputs.
